Get ready to dive into impactful work with the ONE Canada Internship 2024 – Policy and Advocacy. We’re on the lookout for two dynamic summer interns eager to immerse themselves in monitoring and coordinating strategic policy and advocacy initiatives.
What Will You Do?
As a selected intern, you’ll be involved in various tasks, including:
- Monitoring and analyzing pertinent political activities and national/international trends, primarily focusing on the Canadian federal level but also encompassing other relevant levels.
- Crafting background documents to support the development of ONE’s campaigns and policy agenda, covering areas like global health, climate finance, international assistance, food security, and economic growth.
- Collaborating with the Policy and Advocacy Manager to contribute to the organization’s planning and accountability systems, including reporting tools.
- Assisting the Policy and Advocacy Manager in drafting communications with Members of Parliament and their staff.
- Engaging with ONE’s partners and allies on policy matters, fostering coalitions and joint efforts where strategic.

Compensation
This internship offers a competitive pay rate of C$20.00 per hour for a duration of 12 weeks.

- Age: At least 18 years old at the time of hiring
- Citizenship: Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
We’re Looking for Candidates with:
- Genuine passion for ONE’s Policy and Advocacy priorities, particularly in combating extreme poverty and preventable diseases in Africa.
- Ability to conduct background research on international development, global health, and international climate finance.
- Experience in supporting policy advocacy and citizen engagement, especially within Canada or similar parliamentary democracies.
- Interest in joining a fast-paced, youthful team dedicated to tackling global challenges.
- Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing public policy proposals.
- Strong team player with experience in coalition building, possessing excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly through both written and oral presentations to diverse audiences.
- Skill in utilizing data to shape policy messages.
- Proficiency in multitasking, working well under pressure, and prioritizing multiple projects.
- Self-motivation, initiative-taking, and ability to complete tasks independently and promptly.
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in other languages, particularly French, is preferred.
